Playing Roulette at a Casino
Both land based and online casinos offer roulette players a variety of options on which they can bet while playing roulette. For instance players can opt for inside bets, outside bets, color bets or odd/even bets – which are covered in full details in the Types of Roulette Bets section.
There are minimum and maximum bet levels imposed at roulette tables which apply separately for inside bets and outside bets. Players can place bets at the table even if the ball has already been dropped onto the wheel by the croupier but have to stop once the latter announces ‘No more bets’ or ‘Rien ne vas plus’.
Once the ball has landed on a slot and the roulette wheel comes to a stop, determining the winning number and color, the dealer places a marker – also called a dolly – on that particular outcome on the roulette table. Players are not authorized any gaming action while the dolly is on the table. The dealer then proceeds to collect all losing bets by sweeping them from the table and award payouts according to the winning outcome. The marker is removed from the table and players collect their winning chips following which they can place new bets for the coming round.
